RIDE INFORMATION

2009 Ride for Courage: Polar Bear Metric Century:
Two routes fully-supported: Ride the traditional Polar Bear Metric Century or the 25-mile Courage Loop. More details to come.

LOCATION:
Our House (across from South Fork Elementary) 4403 Country Club Road, Winston-Salem, NC.

DATE:
Thursday, January 01, 2009 (New Year's Day):
Event will take place rain or shine; if there is ice or snow on event day, the ride will be canceled. If the ride is canceled, t-shirts and sponsor bags will be given to all registered riders - please see this Web site for up-to-date details.

RACE DAY REGISTRATION:
8:00 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. at Our House

9:00 a.m. Start:
Polar Bear Metric Century - A challenging route with many hills through four counties. One rest stop will be provided.

9:15 a.m. Start:
25-mile Courage Loop - Intermediate distance ride with some rolling rills. One rest stop will be provided close to the halfway point.


Participation Fee:
$35 if registered by December 15, 2008; $40 day of event.
If registering online through Active, there is an additional $3 processing fee - this provides you with your own event Web page and allows your friends to make online pledges, in your name.

All riders who register by December 15 will receive an event t-shirt and sponsor gifts. Riders who register on event day will receive a t-shirt, while supplies last, and sponsor gifts.


New for 2009: Our Registration Sponsor, The Phoenix Company, has made it possible to offer all cyclists registered by December 15, 2008 the opportunity to win great prizes from all the area bike shops. Don't miss your chance to win some great gear and goodies - register now!


VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
If you are interested in participating in the event as a volunteer please contact anna.cohn@cancerservicesonline.org for more information. Volunteers are needed for registration, rest stops, awards and food.


SUPPORT :

Please carry simple repair tools, tubes and patch kits during the event. All routes will have bike mechanics at rest stops and SAG support following the last riders on each route. Technical support will remain on course until 2:00 p.m.
